Express your
Interest
Carbon Lock Tech is developing next-generation biomass pyrolysis systems to remove and permanently store carbon. Our technology is designed, built, tested, and operated entirely in-house, giving our team full ownership of the engineering lifecycle.
We are looking for those interested in joining a highly motivated and dedicated team driven by a shared commitment to building something meaningful. We value people who embrace positivity and who bring a solutions-oriented attitude to work each day. We value those who are curious, who identify problems and challenges and who focus on finding innovative answers and solutions. This is an environment for individuals who take ownership, support their teammates, and maintain energy and momentum even when the work is challenging.
Position Overview
We are currently taking expressions of interest for engineers and technicians who thrive in an environment where no two days are the same. This is not a narrow, desk-only role—you will wear multiple hats across design, fabrication, installation and live system operation. You will work directly on reactor systems, contribute to active R&D, and help push technology from prototype to commercial deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Build
Create and update CAD models, drawings, and P&IDs
Contribute to mechanical and process design of evolving reactor systems
Perform practical engineering calculations and make real-time design decisions
Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new ideas
Fabrication & Commissioning
Build, assemble, and modify mechanical, piping, and electrical systems
Work hands-on with tools and shop equipment daily
Support installation and commissioning of new systems and upgrades
Operate, Test, Improve
Run and troubleshoot pyrolysis systems and supporting equipment in real time
Execute test campaigns, iterate quickly, and adapt based on results
Diagnose issues using system data (temperature, pressure, flow, gas composition) and fix problems hands-on
Controls, Electrical & Instrumentation
Install, wire, and troubleshoot sensors and instrumentation
Work directly with PLCs—debugging, modifying logic, and integrating new components
Configure control systems, communications, and data acquisition
Build and modify electrical panels and field wiring
Move Fast & Wear Multiple Hats
Shift between roles: one day designing, the next day wiring, the next operating the system
Take ownership of problems and drive solutions end-to-end
Contribute to a culture of rapid iteration, continuous improvement, and accountability
Data & Continuous Improvement
Collect and analyze operational data
Identify inefficiencies, failure modes, and performance limitations
Implement practical, immediate improvements to system performance and reliability
Safety
Work safely in a hands-on industrial environment
Follow safe work practices and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Who We’re Looking For
Background in engineering or technical fields (mechanical, process, electrical, mechatronics, or similar)
Strong hands-on capability—comfortable building, wrenching, wiring, troubleshooting, and operating prototype equipment
Experience in pyrolysis, thermal systems, or related process design and operation is an asset
Highly adaptable, self-driven, and willing to take on whatever the problem requires
Comfortable working in ambiguity and moving quickly with technical challenges requiring innovative solution, often with incomplete information
Motivated by desigining and building real hardware and solving real-world problems
Why Join Us
Work on real hardware, real systems, and real climate impact
Full exposure to the lifecycle: design → build → test → operate → scale
High ownership and responsibility from day one
Fast-paced, no-red-tape environment where ideas get built quickly
Be part of a small, driven team pushing technology forward
